Chancel (21.25 feet by 13.5 feet)

The thickness of the north and east walls indicate that they were built in the 12th century. There are two 14th century centred rear arches to the east window. The stained glass of this window was installed in 1867. An unusual feature is that the 1861 Norman style, Chancel arch is carved on both sides.

The Chancel encompasses the vestry, the organ and the organ chamber on the North side (20 feet by 6 feet). On the South side is a commemorative window to Francis Trevelyan Egerton Cockburn-Dickinson.

Francis was one of the three children of the Reverend George Cockburn-Dickinson and his wife the Honourable Ursula, daughter of Lord Londesborough. He was a reader at the church at the tender age of eight, who sadly drowned at the age of 10 in the river.
